Paintings
The painting gallery has a collection of beautiful artworks of Marwar School. The Marwar School comprises Kishangarh, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Pali, Nagaur and Ghanerao styles. The use of linear pace and shimmering colours makes it distinct from others styles. The scenes that are usually depicted in the paintings are of Jodhpur fort images, elephant fights, festivals, ceremonies and hunting expeditions. You will also get to see the scenes from lord Krishna’s life! Another unique feature of the painting gallery of the Jodhpur museum is that they keep changing the theme every year. Every painting you see there would talk about the folklore of the glorious days of the Rajput kingdom.
Armoury
Other than the painting gallery which has beautiful mehrangarh fort images, there is a very interesting armory section in the Mehrangarh fort gallery that depicts the military might of the Rathores of Jodhpur. You will get to see the variety of armories that were used by the warriors in those times. There are swords, archery equipment, Helmets, armor, and daggers. The sword shafts are made of ivory, jade rhino horn, and silver. Every weapon was precious because of the material and jewels that were used to decorate it. The shields that were used in battles had gems and stones whereas the guns had the silver and gold work on them.
Textiles
The textile gallery has some of the best royal furnishings. It consists of rare collections of encampments that the Maharajas of Jodhpur used to carry with them on their pilgrimages, wars, and vacations. The carpets displayed in the gallery have beautiful embroideries. All materials used are of vibrant colours and mainly velvets. Other things that are displayed in the museum are curtains, hangings, floor spreads etc. Also there is a shop inside the Jodhpur museum where you can buy some of the best textile items of Jodhpur, beautiful paintings and Mehrangarh Fort images.
